H&H History
Our family business, Hockran Excavating Inc., started in 1977 through the perseverance and hard work of our founders Tom & Fran Hockran. Tom was passionate about construction work from an early age and started to learn the trade in high school. Fran managed the books and the office from the beginning and still plays a crucial role in business administration. While semi-retired Tom & Fran are both involved in the day-to-day affairs of operations and company visioning.
In 1994, H&H Enterprises was born as a result of Jason’s future interests in the company and the opportunities and vision that Tom had to diversify for the future. Jason graduated college with a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from Ohio Northern University. The H&H team was introduced to directional drilling through a small project Tom was managing for an industrial development site. Our first HDD equipment was purchased in 1996 and the future of the company was set in motion.
Over the last 25 years, the company has grown in capacity and diversified into traditional and innovative underground construction techniques. In addition, we provide project management and design engineering services to a broad range of building and civil markets.

IN MEMORIAM
SCOTT KILGORE (1974 – 2020)
One of the reasons for the success of H&H in the last 15 years was the work and passion of Scott Kilgore our long-time operations manager. Scott joined the H&H team in 2006 and helped grow the business with additional drilling equipment and trenchless construction experience to grow H&H’s market base. Scott will forever be a part of the H&H story and we honor his investment in our family business. Scott passed away in May of 2020 after a long battle with cancer.

In 2013 Jason traveled to Liberia, West Africa as a short-term missionary with the United Methodist Church, this journey motivated the Hockran entrepreneurial spirit and it is where the idea of starting a family business in Liberia came about for Jason and Tom through the relationships developed there. As such, in 2018 Tri Buchanan Development Corporation was founded as a logistics and transportation company that has now diversified into full-service project management, engineering, and architectural firm helping to bring a higher construction standard and infrastructure development to West Africa.
